Difficulty: Average

ImageMaterials: piece of muslin size you need to make snuggle (14"x14")
scraps of fabric (cottons or blends)
piece of material for back (cotton flannel, cotton fleece, other material suitable for backing)

To Create Patchwork: From fabric scraps, cut patches in a variety of shapes, or just use the shapes they are already in. Arrange patches in desired pattern on muslin, starting with a triangular-shaped patch in a corner. Pin patch 1 to outside of edges of muslin; trim patch to match muslin edges. Turn under the free edge(1/4"); press the patch smoothly over the muslin. Slip raw edge of patch 2 under free(turned-under) edge of patch 1, being sure to turn under free edges of patch 2; pin to muslin. where patches meet, slip-stitch edges through all layers, leaving 1/4" open on side edges where next patch will be slipped under. Press. Continue adding patches across muslin, pinning, slip-stitching and pressing, always covering a raw edge with a turned-under edge. Baste all around outside edge of piece 1/4" from edges. Outline patch seams by embroidery in stitches of your choice.

Assembly: Cut batting to size and sew to back by sewing diagonally from corner to corner. Baste around outside edge by sewing all around edge 1" from edge. Trim batting 1/4" from baste line. Put back and front together right sides together. Seam around edge 1/2" from edge, leaving space to turn. Turn right sides out, slip-stitch opening closed. Top stitch around 1/2" from edge.

How I made mine: Instead of muslin, I used a large scrap of material that didn't have a lot of stretch. Instead of slip-stitching. I also used my fancy stitches on my sewing machine to outline the patches. I used a contrasting color of thread and it looks like embroidery. By machine stitching you assure that it won't come apart.
