This was a great project and although it took a little time and work, it did not feel taxing at all. I've tried my hand at crocheting before and I was not very adept and found it slightly stressful with the hand cramping and counting. But this project was relaxing and fun. I highly recommend it for all ages!
Here are some tips from my experience:
1.) I cut 4 inch fringe as the one in the photo looked a little long. I think that length worked out very well for me.
2.) I bought a yard of fleece that was more rectangular than square. When I thought about cutting it up to make smaller ones, they just seemed rather tiny so I went for one large one instead. I think if I get 1.25 or 1.5 yards next time, that would work for two smaller snuggles.
3.) I was questioning whether or not I really needed the cutting mat. But I'm glad I got it! I think I would have definitely damaged my dining room table without it.
We are having a blast making these! We are making them a bit differently and I think they come out snuggly looking, we are shortening the knot a bit and they get a scrunched look to them. Two of us are working on them at once and we have cut out and split the edges on about 6 of them in the past hour :) Going to knot them all while laying in bed :)
